The Madness Chronicles – Episode 20
In this, our 20th episode of the Madness Chronicles, we’ll take a look at the madness of counting COVID-19 cases. Remember, madness is a state of being mentally ill, especially severely, extremely foolish behavior, and a state of frenzied or chaotic activity. Let’s take a look at Coronavirus counting from around our nation.
We’ll begin with a statement from Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. On April 18, 2020, she explained,“I just want to be clear in terms of the definition of ‘people dying of COVID.’ The case definition is very simplistic. It means, at the time of death, it was a COVID positive diagnosis. That means, that if you were in hospice and had already been given a few weeks to live, and then you also were found to have COVID, that would be counted as a COVID death.” Say what?
In Macomb County, Illinois, Chief Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz reported a recent case in which an individual died by suicide and was counted as a COVED-19 death. Why you may be asking yourself? Fair question. The reason Spitz gave was a family member was in the hospital suffering from COVID-19, so he had a postmortem test done, found that the suicide victim was positive for COVID-19. Chalk it up for a Coronabalogna death. Clever, eh?
In Oakland County, Illinois, every individual who has died while infected with COVID-19 is counted as a coronavirus death. Dr. Ljubisa J. Gragovic, the county’s chief medical examiner, said, “We are testing all the people who are deceased who are brought in, whether they sustained injuries or were in a hospital setting or their place of work or home, whether they’re victims of violence or unexpected sudden death, we’re testing them,” Dragovic said. And, drum roll please, if they test positive after sustaining injuries in say, a car wreck, chalk one up for the Coronabalogna. See how this works?
Moving to Colorado, we find more of the same. The state health department recently reported that a quarter of recorded coronavirus deaths are not listed as so on the death certificate. They’re not sure why? (Wink-Wink) When question during a call with reporters Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment told reporters, “the number of deaths reported does not represent the number of people who have died due to COVID-19, only those who died who had tested positive”. Deborah Birx, a Doctor and State Department big wig recently stated: “There are other countries that if you had a preexisting condition and let’s say the virus caused you to go to the ICU and then have a heart or kidney problem some countries are recording this as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death… In the US, if someone dies with COVID-19, we are counting that as a COVID-19 death.” That should certainly clear up the madness amongst us.
A funeral director at Colonial Funeral Home in Queens, New York City, New York, recently explained that they are putting COVID-19 on “everything.” He said, “To be honest with you, all the death certificates they are writing COVID on all the death certificates whether they had a positive or that they didn’t. So I think, this is my personal opinion, I think like the mayor of our city, they are looking for federal funding, and the more they put COVID on a death certificate, the more they can ask for federal funds. So I think that it is political. So I am going to turn around and say not everybody who has COVID on their death certificate died of COVID. Can I prove that? No, but that is my suspicion. They are putting it on everybody’s death certificate to make life easier for them.” To once again quote that Russian funny man Yakoff Smirnoff, “What a country!”
