Developing Your Niche
Many people get confused about how to develop their niche. If you are like Doris, you have so many interests that it’s hard to narrow it down to one specific interest or niche. For example, when she goes into a store she sees everything. She may have gone with a friend to get a certain makeup, but she stopped at the counter where lovely wrist watches were displayed. They caught her eye. One of the bands had rhinestones that looked like diamonds. Another one had a leather band. Still another one had Roman numerals in the face for the time set. So, all of those watches caught her attention. She couldn’t decide her niche. So, she learned that to be specific about her purchases, she needed to go online or go to her cell phone or mobile device and find a specific niche that she is interested in. Otherwise, she has such a variety to pick from that it’s hard for her to choose.
If you are developing your online business, you really do need to pick a niche that you like, or that you know your girlfriend likes. For example, she may be one who likes eye makeup. So, if you are shopping at the same store with your girlfriend, she may stop at the makeup counter, and get all excited about buying what she wants and needs regarding eye makeup, but Doris simply wants to pick out the watch that she likes. And, how can you blame her when there is such a variety; and every one dazzles her eyes? Rather than picking out a beautiful watch, she feels the pressure to help Sally pick out her eye makeup. Do you realize how long it takes for this type of shopping? It may be fun, and if you are not in a hurry you can take your time.
But, by now you can understand why it’s so difficult to pick out a niche that you can focus your attention on. In the above example, we find that many watches are available, and Doris and Sally have just begun to look at eye makeup. Now, if they were in a hurry and have an appointment at a certain time and needed the makeup immediately; needless to say, at least one of them would have stayed focused. For example, traveling down that same road, Doris and Sally decide to pick the niche before they go into the store. In a hurry, Doris asks the sales clerk to direct her to the aisle that displays eye makeup. She knows what kind of makeup she uses. She knows what she’s gone to the store for. So, she doesn’t waste any time: she heads straight for the makeup aisle. She has her niche; it’s an eyebrow pencil that she needs. Right in front of her she spots the medium brown color that she uses. The medium brown pencil is exactly what she has been using. That is her niche. That is what she likes. She picks out her niche, pays the clerk, and heads for the door hoping Sally is close behind her, so they can keep their appointment. She focused on her niche, and succeeded in what she set out to do. So it is when you are deciding your niche for your online business.
You can see how important it is for you to decide what niche to use to start your campaign because people who shop online or on their mobile devise always have a specific niche in mind. A person turns on the cell phone and searches the web to find the specific item they want to buy. It might be a collar for a dog with bells, or it might be a leather belt, or, even a specific brand of dog food: he or she knows what they want to buy before turning the electronic device on. So it is with a niche. It’s very specific and it’s something that you need to separate for your online marketing business.
