Pre Wedding Ceremonies – The pre wedding ceremonies include Jayee Anukolo, Mangan, Diya Mangula Pooja, Barajatri and Baadua Pani Gadhua. In the first ritual called, Jayee Anukolo, the marriage cards will be distributed to their relatives and friends. In Mangan tradition, both the bride and groom will be advised to apply tuermeric paste (haldi) on their body and advised to take holy bath. Next ritual would be the Diya Mangula Pooja, in which, the bride will devote the Devi Matha in Devi temple, in the temple, she will be given toe rings, bangles, saree and sindoor (Kumkum). The bride will be asked to take ceremonial bath called Baadua Pani Gadhua. The groom will be welcomed to the wedding venue by the ritual called Barajatri. Wedding Customs – The wedding rituals include Kanyadan and Haatha Ghanti. Once after the groom came to the wedding Mandapa, the bride will be welcomed to the wedding Mandapa. Within a while after, the ritual called Kanyadan will be performed. In this ritual, the father of the bride will place bride’s right hand in the right hand of the groom’s. This ritual confirms that, the groom will take care of the bride in the future days. Post Wedding Rituals – This includes the Grihapravesh and Astha Mangala ritual. In Grihapravesh, the bride will be welcomed to her marital home. Then, the bride and groom both will get the blessings of the elders. Then, on the 8th day after the wedding, the wedded couple will visit the bride’s house and this ritual is called Astha Mangala.
